Flowers and Progress

Today was spent ( a good portion at least) at the Botanical Gardens of Montreal. An attraction I
am ashamed to admit I have never been to, despite living very close indeed to it.

So off we set at 11.00 am with the intention of enjoying some local flora and generally enjoying
a nice walk.

Firstly we were hit by a $10 parking cost. No big deal I guess but that's certainly in the upper
echelons of what remains acceptable. Next up $30 entrance fee (because I asked in my British
accent) I then said - but we are Quebec residents) down to $24. So $34 plus another $25 an
hour later for lunch and its a round $60 for a walk in the park.... Yeah OK griping about the
prices out of the way it was good. I would have liked to have spent longer there but the
heavens opened a little and our little one was tired (as were we!) so off home we went.

The gardens were beautiful though. Especially the ornamental vegetable gardens showing off
some seriously prime examples of cabbage and tomatoes. Here is what yours could be like
kind of thing. I also liked the Chinese gardens - an execptionally colourful and well managed area
that I imagine looks great in the fall with the extra colours on the trees and the evening lanterns.

The kids playground wasnt the best but by that time we were tired out and Alice wasn't up for
walking too much anymore.

In other news we coughed up for a new front door and patio door today... hopefully it'll look
great when its all said and done. Its another 8 weeks before they can come and install though
so I am glad we pulled the trigger on it now instead of later (after much faffing among parties).

Thats all. Back to work tomorrow for 4 days before the annual golf tourney.
