OK So as of the last two weeks I have been employed by the rag trade. Or to put it more succintly - the Fashion Business.
I'm probably the most blase person in the company about this fact, I don't give two hoots about the products my company flogs at exorbitant prices. I do however like
the change of scenery. It wasn't quite now or never for this kind of move for me but
it certainly has come at the right time.
I found myself doing things at work that I didnt really enjoy. Like coding EPS for these prepaid messages and their reversals. Boring. I didnt like doing it so why did I have to do it? Because I could I suppose. In some ways it was pleasing to be asked to do the complex stuff but in other ways I dont think that I was ever being adequately rewarded in that job.
Anyway, on to the new. The new office is much nearer home and after one or two slip ups I think I am getting close to finding the quickest routes in and out. Under a half hour each way, how cool is that? Shortest journeys to work I have had in 14 years!
The office itself is pretty luxurious. Part of me hoped for a better desk/office but Im ok with where I am. Folks are friendly. Mostly stunningly beautiful 20 something ladies or gay men. Sucks to be me eh.
Im actually quite impressed with myself for the way I handle the stuff thrown at me so far. Granted its only been easy support stuff so far but Ive done alright I reckon.
The real tests are yet to come I fear.
