Venise is nice enough

So this weekend the family spent a couple of nights at a 'holiday house' as my girl calls it.

Its called Venise en Quebec and its by the US Border on Lake Champlain.

We knew nothing about the area other than its location and a couple of comments from inlaws
about the type of folk who frequent the area.

So we headed off early after work on friday and the journey down was surprisingly short
for a summer friday pm, 1 hour 20 minutes perhaps. This alone was a big plus for me as
it could take that kind of time to get through Laval on a friday let alone to our destination.

The resort was small but seemed to have enough going on to make things interesting, the
Lake itself was beautiful, large, surrounded by trees and a semi mountainous backdrop.
The holiday house was OK but nothing more, there was a couple of bedrooms but it wasn't
anything special and I had hoped for a bit more seeing as we shelled out $260 for the weekend.

So now the negatives. In a word this can be summed up by " Bikers". Seriously, these guys got on my nerves. Even though they didnt stab or kill anyone or do any damage, it was the Noise
that got to me. All this engine revving and loud music, it was too much. I sound old but I don't
care, i was hoping for a bit of p and q in the countryside and I got harley davidson by the sea.

Another negative. Food. The one seemingly decent place to eat (where we ate 3 times!) was crappy. It really had a shit menu and the food was palatable but thats it. They were catering to
bikers and I suppose that they can subsist on a diet of poutine, pizza and chicken wings but I
myself cannot.

The beach where we paid a princely $10 to park at was also a bit shit. it was more like a semi arid dirt patch with a bunch of rocks underneath, then after a while 3 or 4 Chinese families arrived to have a big smokey barbeque right next to us. That was a bit off putting but I didnt really care I just though things would be a bit nicer you know.

Long story short we are looking for a plot of land to call our own and we are not going to find it in
V-en-Q. Thanks but goodbye.
